Well after almost 2 years of thinking about going to the 46th Montreux Jazz Festival 2012….we are finally here!
Court has performed in the Big Band on stage in Parc Vernex and they did a fantastic job…(Dave took some video which he will post up later). All the rehearsals and anticipation which lead to this day were definately worthwhile…and even better, they get to do it again tomorrow!
We have strolled around the festival area which is on the bank of Lake Geneva…it is a lovely day, quite warm and a little bit hazy but the storms that were potentially coming have held off thankfully. Other than music, the festival stalls sell the usual array of handicrafts, clothes, jewellery, trinkets, toys and food…so many choices, they all smell so good and given that we are at a festival in Switzerland I am going to say they are quite reasonably priced. We paid 10 francs for a doner kebab and the same for a poulet kebab…and 4 francs for an icecream scoop…the raspberry was delicious!
After walking for a while, we have now opted to sit in the shade for a bit and have a cool drink…the Lake Lounge was the perfect choice…soft green grass, big shady tree, colourful garden beds and giant cushions…plus free wifi…what more could you ask for…oh, yes, of course…the soothing sounds of jazz drifting in the air….bliss!
