Thankfully birthdays don’t start at the same hour as Christmas! It was an overcast morning and as I didn’t have to go to work it was lovely to sleep in a bit.
Before I was out of bed though, Amanda came in to see if she could open her presents. As her friends were due to arrive at about 9am I initially said she could wait, though then remembered our Clayton’s Gift (the gift you give when you don’t give a gift).
The Gift…the right to use a mobile phone. The phone itself is not hers, however our user agreement sets out the terms and condition that apply.
She seemed pretty happy though and signed the agreement (after reading it thoroughly).
Once her friends arrived they sat down and played a game of Harry Potter Cluedo…
and strawberry milk in cute little bottles with pink striped paper straws…
13 candles proved she isn’t a big bag of wind…it took a few turns to get them all out…
what do you give a girl who has everything…more stuff…I have no idea how anything more could fit in her room, but I am sure she’ll find space for the perfume; skin care; jelly bellys; hair bands; phone cover, screen protector & micro SD; lollies; chocolate; money, money, money and a flute!
For lunch we went to the park. I sent them out in teams of two to take photos of 6 things on a list (I’ll try to get them sent through so I can show you).
and so did I (it is much harder than it looks)
we played ‘pine-tanque’…like petanque but with a pine cone for the jack…
took little naps on the rug and listened to Courtney gently strumming on the guitar….
I took a stroll through the garden, taking time to stop and smell the magnolias and look for the little things…and test out the camera on my phone…to which I am pleasantly surprised by the quality…
…just because I was there and had thongs on, which is rare for me…
When we came home the girls played a game of Life…and I went out to water the garden in the quiet…before the friends were all picked up…
Not that we probably need any more food…but we had organised to go out for dinner with Grandma and Grandad at the Chinese Restaurant…
and now we are home and the kids are playing Uno Spin with Grandma…though I’m done for the day…night night…
