Already as I start to write about my day, my mind is jumping ahead to new thoughts that aren’t related to what I am writing about. I’m sure there is a technical term for it…but for now I’ll just go with ‘attention’.
As a child I was told to ‘pay attention’…though now, as I am a bit older I find that it is my inner voice that says it more often. It isn’t that I have lost interest in the original thought topic…it is just that my mind picks up on a part of the topic and runs away on another tangent…for example…
When I woke up this morning I chose to roll over and get a few more minutes sleep instead of getting up and going for a run…
While thinking that I wanted to go back to sleep, my mind drifted to a book I bought the other day called ‘Run Fat B!tch Run’…
I bought the book when we were at the airport…so then I started to think about flying and the fact that we fly out in just 7 weeks tomorrow…
Eventually I brought my thoughts back to the task at hand…getting out of bed and ready for work…
Once at work a colleague asked how my running was going in preparation for boot camp starting on Tuesday…
hmm, Tuesday, not Monday…ahh because of the long weekend for Australia Day…
Australia Day weekend reminds me that we are having a special morning tea at work tomorrow morning and I am going to bake some pumpkin scones…
Baking reminds me of cooking shows on television and conveniently it is Thursday night, so the SBS foodie shows are on..
I love the cooking shows that get out amongst the people and show the viewers the roots of the food being used…
Particularly spices…I love spices but don’t use them enough…most spices come from the southern Asian region…
When we were in Vietnam we did a cooking class in Hoi An…
I’d like to do a Khmer cooking class in Cambodia while we are there…I’ll jump online and look for some options…
There are so many options…oh wait, I haven’t booked all of our accommodation yet…better look at a some reviews for accommodation in the Sihanoukville area and Phnom Phen
When we were at the doctor for our immunisations recently…I recall him say a fellow from Toowoomba has a B’n’B in Kampot…
I love researching for trips…I love browsing through travel magazines and reading reviews…and finding great places to stay that make us feel welcome and have local information to share…
It takes a local to know the impact of an event on the environment, such as the amount of rain we received today…will it make any floods?
The impact of floods makes me think of our train ride on an overnight sleeper from Hanoi to Hue…we were delayed on route due to landslides covering the track…and then after the typhoon hit Hoi An we had to drive through flooded waters to get from our hotel to the airport…
The list goes on and on…but I think you get the picture…
As for now, I want my thoughts to be of sleep, to match my blinking eyes and nodding head…
